BC Warriors drop football season opener 30-14 to CEB

Bennett County opened the 2016 football season on the road this year, dropping a 30-14 decision to Cheyenne-Eagle Butte last Friday.

The host Braves jumped to a 22-0 lead at the half and held off the Warriors for the win.

Commissioners hear complaints on Resolution #5-2016, asked to rescind

The Bennett County Commissioners received an earful and then some from county resident Craig Howe at the Aug. 17, regular commission meeting. Howe took exception to county resolution #5-2016, pointing out what he felt were inaccuracies, false statements and racial statements within the resolution.

Rod Kirk appointed temporary County Commissioner

Rod Kirk was appointed temporary Bennett County Commissioner by the commission board at the August 3, regular meeting. Kirk replacing Newton Cummings, who passed away recently, and will serve until the new commissioner is elected and sworn in January of 2017.

Free post office box rental to end in Martin

Last Saturday, July 16, 2016, the storm system that moved across Western South Dakota prompted a tornado warning for Northwestern Bennett County by the National Weather Service.
