CHART Cancer fundraiser a chance to help heal

Election filings show races in most offices

City Water Line Breaks

Martin City crews were not catching a break this past weekend, with a dumping of heavy snow and a water line break that kept people out of water from 10 p.m. Friday, to Saturday afternoon.

The water line, an 8 inch pipe, broke on the north side of  Hwy 18, right at Pride Grain. It took crews until 11 a.m. Saturday to restore water to the City and housing.

Bennett Co. High School Student Council recognized as Outstanding

The South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) announced that 30 South Dakota high school student councils have been recognized as being “Outstanding Student Councils” for the 2015-16 school year. Bennett County High School student council in Martin was one of the 30 schools recognized, with Mandi Smokov as advisor.

Missing children found safe

Pine Ridge tribal police say three children taken on the reservation, who were believed to be in danger, are safe.

Authorities say 40-year-old Nicole Big Crow took the kids from Allen, South Dakota in violation of a court order.

Tribal police say the children were located early Sunday morning on the reservation.
