Jesse Elk, 28, of Kyle, S.D., passed away March 22, 2018, in Wounded Knee.
Jesse Elk was born on January 23, 1990, in Pine Ridge, to Austin and Lisa Watkins. Jesse made his journey to the Spirit World on March 22, 2018, near Wounded Knee.
Jesse is survived by his mother, Lisa Watkins; father, Austin Watkins, Sr; father-in-law, Marvin Bad Wound; mother-in-law, Linda Bad Wound; hunka parents, Bill and Jonnie Clifford; wife, Katheena Bad Wound/Elk; daughter, Alicen Ferguson; sons, Jesse Elk and Lante Elk; brothers, Wade Vocu, Austin Watkins, Jr., Matthew Watkins, Sr., Byron Head, Joseph Elk, Maurice Elk, Jr., and Renzel Watkins; sisters, Kelley Pourier, Phyllis (Cory) Watkins-Vrooman, Delilah Watkins, Ashley Elk, and Wilma Watkins; godfather, Larry Pourier; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jesse was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Bad Wound; grandparents, Rueben and Phyllis Clifford; auntie, Belva Clifford and Wilma Watkins; uncle, Laddimer W. Clifford, Sr. and Harvey Wieland; cousins, Laddimer P. Price, Tonya June Loafer, and Baby Boy Loafer; and niece, Yvonne Loafer.
Wake services began at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, with Rosary Services at 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the Church Hall in Kyle.
Mass of Christian Burial began at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 26, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall Kyle with Father Ron Seminara, S.J. officiating. Mr. Hawkeye Montileaux and Mr. Sundown Montileaux performed the traditional Lakota service.
Burial services were held at the St. Barnabas Episcopal Cemetery, Kyle.
