Tanya Dawn Standing Soldier “Winyan Waste Win”, 42, of Rapid City, S.D., passed away March 31, 2017, in Rapid City.
Tanya Dawn Standing Soldier was born on May 4, 1974, in Pine Ridge, to Duane Hollow Horn Bear and Wanda (Pumpkin Seed) Silva. Tanya made her journey to the Spirit World on March 31, 2017 in Rapid City.
Tanya is survived by her husband, Donald Standing Soldier, Pine Ridge; father, Duane Hollow Horn Bear, Rosebud; children, Edward (Jordan) Red Feather, Rapid City, Walter Morin III, Ft. Thompson, Keith Morin, Grand Forks, ND, James Morin, Angel Hanson, Denise Hanson, Dominick Standing Soldier and Dalton Standing Soldier, all of Pine Ridge; brothers, Alden Pumpkin Seed, Pine Ridge, Allan Gilbert, Sr., Sioux Falls, and Clifford Gilbert, Rapid City; sister, Michelle Curley, Pine Ridge; aunt, Linda Pumpkin Seed, Pine Ridge; and cousin, Ronald Pumpkin Seed, Pine Ridge.
Tanya was preceded in death by her biological mother, Wanda (Pumpkin Seed) Silva; adopted mother, Doris Pumpkin Seed; sisters, Colleen Black Elk, Nevalyn Gilbert and Sharon Janis; cousin, Francis Pumpkin Seed; and grandparents, Ira and Eva (Red Ear Horse) Elk Boy.
A one night wake service started at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 10, at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge.
Funeral services began at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, with Mr. Charles McGaa officiating.
Burial services were held at the St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery in Oglala.
