Alvin Gene Bettelyoun, Sr., 68, of New Prague, Minn., passed away May 30, 2017, in New Prague.
Alvin Gene Bettelyoun, Sr. was born on December 19, 1948 in Long Valley, S.D. to Rossie, Sr. and Eugenia (Witt) Bettelyoun. Alvin made his journey to the Spirit World on May 30, 2017, at his home in New Prague.
Alvin is survived by his spouse, Vonnie Bettelyoun, New Prague; sons, Alvin Bettelyoun, Jr. and Curtis (Raquel Yankton) Bettelyoun, Sr. both of Wanblee; daughters, April Bettelyoun, Prior Lake, Minn., Crystal Bettelyoun-Shoning, New Prague, and Alicia Peacock, Lake Andes; brothers, Harley Bettelyoun, Prescott, Ariz., Edward Bettelyoun, Sr., Long Valley, Ross Bettelyoun, Jr., Hisle, Clifford Bettelyoun, Belvidere, Lawrence Bettelyoun, Wanblee, Tim Swallow, Boston, Mass., and Albert Bettelyoun, Mission; sisters, Tina Bettelyoun, Lois Bettelyoun, and Brenda Bettelyoun-Yankton, Wanblee; 29 grandchildren, special loving niece, Kelsie Whiting; and numerous great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Rossie and Eugenia Bettelyoun; children, Jason Bettelyoun, Sr. and Mary Bettelyoun; brother, George Bettelyoun, Sr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and grandchildren.
A two night wake service started at 3:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, June 10 and 11, at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee.
Funeral services began at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 12, at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, with Deacon Gerald Bush officiating and Mr. Robert Cross, Sr. performed the traditional Lakota service.
Burial services were held at the Grace Cemetery in Martin.
