Tim Clair Anderson passed away April 30, 2017, at his home in Martin, S.D., at the age of 67. He was born July 19, 1949, to Wilbur C. and Helen M (Vanchura). He graduated from Bennett County High School, attended one year at USD in Vermillion, transferring to Chadron State College and graduated with a BS in Education in 1972 with an endorsement in Industrial Arts. He later earned his Master’s degree and worked as a Guidance Counselor.
Tim farmed with his mother Helen throughout his life. His greatest joys were farming and running heavy equipment. He was especially proud of producing all organic crops for many years. Tim enjoyed working on the farm equipment and anything else that had a motor. He was an accomplished welder and carpenter. Tim remodeled a barn into a house/Bed and Breakfast catering to hunters and travelers in the Geddes area, where he also had an earth moving and excavation business.
Tim was a licensed pilot and at the time of his passing and was renovating a rare, two seat bi-wing plane. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.
In recent years he traveled north to Alaska, the Yukon and Canada. He also visited numerous countries in Central and South America and Mexico. He was a strong swimmer and learned to scuba dive in the Caribbean.
Tim was preceded in death by his brother Monty J., his father and mother. He is survived by a son, Timothy, and a daughter Shandon Fugate. He also leaves behind several college friends who were actively involved in his life for over fifty years.
Funeral Services will be held at the family farm on Saturday June 24 at 1:00 p.m. (Rain or Shine) A luncheon will be provided after the service. The farm is located two miles west of Martin on highway 18, two miles south on 216 and two miles west on 294.
