Karen Inez Between Lodges “Tokeya Aku Win”, 68, of Oglala, S.D., passed away June 24, 2017, in Oglala.
Karen Inez Between Lodges was born on October 18, 1948, to Walter Between Lodges and Nora Frogg. Karen passed away at her home in Oglala, on June 24, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Karen is survived by her children, Charles (Xaviera) Long Soldier, Jr. and Leilani Long Soldier, both of Oglala, Tahnee (Victor) Between Lodges-Robles, Ogden, Utah, Michael Featherman, Ola Featherman, and Precious Featherman, all of Oglala; sisters, Annabelle and Iris Between Lodges, both of Oglala; hunka sisters, Sylvia Tobacco, Calico, Danelle Two Bulls, Red Shirt, and Fern Apple, Manderson, SD; and 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Between Lodges and Nora Frogg; children, Cheryl, Brett and Carla Long Soldier, Kenny Wayne Featherman and Julian Stands, Sr.; brothers, Mark and Lloyd Little Wolf; and sisters, Delores and Norene Between Lodges.
A two night wake service started at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 28, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala.
Funeral services began at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 1, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala with Mr. Ivis Long Visitor performing the traditional Lakota service.
Burial services were held at the Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Church Cemetery in Oglala.
