Tyler Shane DuBray “Wakinyan Hohpeca”, 26, of Allen, S.D., passed away August 26, 2017, in Allen.

Tyler Shane DuBray “Wakinyan Hohpeca” (Handsome Lightning) was born on December 31, 1990 in Pine Ridge, SD to Tom DuBray and Jennifer Crazy Bear at the old Pine Ridge Hospital.

Survivors include his parents, Thomas DuBray andd Jennifer Crazy Bear, Allen. Brothers, Eternity and Rocky DuBray, Allen. Hunka Parents, Ted and Alice Phelps, Thunder Valley; numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Grandmothers: Marcella Iron Cloud-DuBray, Kyle, and Eugina Arguello-DuBray, Denver, Colo.

Tyler was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Florine DuBray, Inez Crazy Bear-Johnson, Amelia Comes Last, Winnie and Albert Crazy Bear, Arlene Hepner, Grace Jump, Raymond Yellow Thunder, and Russell Yellow Thunder; his special Sunka’s Precious “P.Jones”and Melissa.

A two night wake service was held with the first night at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, at the Steven (Lolita) DuBray residence, north of Allen, and the second night at 7:00 a.m., Friday, September 1, at the American Horse School in Allen.

Funeral services began at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2, at the American Horse School in Allen, with Mr. Steven DuBray, Sr., Mr. Steven DuBray, Jr., Mr. Santee Witt and Mr. John “Keya” Attack Him performing the traditional Lakota service.

Burial services were held at the Inestimable Gift Cemetery in Allen.
