Paul Joseph Herman, Sr., 100, of Kyle, S.D., passed away September 20, 2017, in Kyle.
He was a veteran of the US Navy.
Paul Joseph Herman, Sr. was born on May 4, 1917, at home near the bombing range by Potato Creek, SD to Jake and Alice (Janis) Herman. Paul, Sr. passed away peacefully on September 20, at his home in Kyle.
Paul is survived by his sons, Paul Herman, Jr., Leo Herman, and Don Herman all of Kyle; Ronald (Lila) Herman, Hay Springs, Neb.; Anthony “Tony” (Linda) Herman and Robert “Joe” Herman both of Pine Ridge, and Rich Herman, Allen; daughters, Monna Patton, Kyle, and Ronda (Reginald) Herman, Wounded Knee; brother, Rex Herman, Allen; sisters, Faith (Patrick) Lee and Hope Brewer both of Rapid City; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Pearl Herman; parents, Jake and Alice Herman; brother, Jacob Herman; sister, Grace Herman; and grandsons, Jake Herman and Leo Herman, Jr.
Visitation services were held from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 25, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle.
Rosary services began at 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 25, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle.
Mass of Christian Burial began at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, at St. Isaac Jogue’s Catholic Church in Rapid City, with Father Ron Seminara, S.J. officiating.
Burial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 26, at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
