Lloyd Samuel Yankton, Sr., 84, of Kyle, S.D., passed away September 29, 2017, in Rapid City.
Lloyd Samuel Yankton, Sr. was born on February 19, 1933, in Fast Horse Creek near Wounded Knee, to Albert, Sr. and Josephine LaDeaux-Yankton. Lloyd passed away on September 29, 2017 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Vina Yankton, Kyle; sons, Hobart Yankton and Levi Red Cloud both of Manderson, and Lloyd Yankton, Jr., Kyle; daughters, Michelle Yellow Hawk, Allen, Lynelle Young and Mattie Yankton both of Kyle, and Malonnie Running Hawk, Rapid City; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Albert, Sr. and Josephine LaDeaux-Yankton; son, Michael Lloyd Yankton; daughter, Rochelle M. Yankton; sisters, Vina Colhoff and Gertrude Swain; brothers, Albert Yankton, Jr., Hobart Yankton, and Bernard Yankton; and grandchildren, Emily Ashmore, Neveah Brink, and Jeremiah Bear Killer.
A one night wake service started at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, October 8, at the Little Wound School Small Gym in Kyle.
Funeral services began at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 9, at the Little Wound School Small Gym in Kyle, with Father Ed Hunt officiating and Mr. Rick Two Dogs performing the traditional Lakota service.
Burial services were held at the Mediator Episcopal Church Cemetery in Kyle.
