Waylon Dean Red Elk, Sr., 42, of Wanblee, S.D., passed away November 4, 2017, near Porcupine.
Waylon Dean Red Elk, Sr. was born on April 6, 1975, in Pine Ridge, to Roger Lee Red Elk, Sr. and Annie (High Horse) Red Elk. Waylon passed away on November 4, 2017 near Porcupine.
Waylon, Sr. is survived by his mother, Annie Red Elk, Wanblee; step-daughter, Santana Chipps, Wanblee; brothers, Neil Red Elk, Eric Red Elk, Roger Red Elk, Jr. and Conway Red Elk all of Wanbler; sisters, Sharon Pebeahsy, Pocatello, Idaho, Beverly Red Elk, and Melinda Wilcox both of Wanblee.
Waylon, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Jaylene Pretends Eagle; sons, Waylon Dean Red Elk, Jr. and Dallas Dean Red Elk; and father, Roger Red Elk, Sr.
A two night wake services started at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, with Episcopal Mass at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, at the School Gym in Wanblee.
Funeral services began at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 13, at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, with Father Ed Hunt officiating and Mr. Richard Moves Camp performing the traditional Lakota service.
Burial services were held at the Gethsemane Episcopal Cemetery in Wanblee.
