Jason Wade Loafer, Sr., 43, of Martin, S.D., passed away November 15, 2017, in Rapid City.
Jason Wade Loafer, Sr. was born on January 10, 1974 in Pine Ridge, to Perry Zephier and Marilyn “Faye” (Loafer) Zephier. Jason made his journey to the Spirit World on November 15, 2017 in Rapid City.
Jason is survived by his wife, Gayla (Adams) Loafer; father, Perry Zephier; children, Shanda Stevin, Annie Goodwin, Libby Loafer and Jason Loafer, Jr.; step-children, Randi, Rachel, Raquel, Rena and Rebecca Hunter; ten grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Vanessa Zephier, Alicia (Travis) Janis, Amber (Hermus) Bettelyoun, Roger Yellow Boy, Sherrie (Art) Has No Horse, Rochelle (Nicholas) Black Elk, JoAnn Mousseaux, Crystal Yellow Boy, Karla Marghein and JoDean Wewenis; uncles, Acey Loafer, Jr. and Benjamin Loafer; and grandparents, Bernice Goodro, Chauncey Loafer, Darlene Rosane and Sterline Rooks.
Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Faye Zephier; brother, Percy Zephier; grandparents, Acey Loafer, Sr. and Yvonne Loafer, and Harvey and Colleen Zephier; uncle, Bill Loafer; aunts, Marie and Joyce Loafer; cousins, Frank Rencountre, Daniel Loafer, Jamie Loafer, Deanna Loafer and Tanya Loafer; nephew, Terrell Janis; niece, Yvonne Loafer; and mother and father-in-law, Sam and Angie Loud Hawk.
A one night wake service started at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 20, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle.
Funeral services began at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 21, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, with Father Ron Seminara, S.J., Fr. Peter Klink, S.J. and Pastor Elton Yellow Boy officiating. Mr. George Apple performed the traditional Lakota service.
Burial services were held at the St. Barnabas Episcopal Cemetery in Kyle.
