Clara Marie Poor Bear-Garcia “Hehaka Nunpa Win”, 69, of Allen, S.D., passed away December 31, 2017, in Rapid City.
Clara Marie Poor Bear-Garcia was born on December 26, 1948, to Julia Lone Wolf and Theodore Poor Bear in Allen. Clara passed away on December 31, 2017, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.
Clara is survived by her husband, Rufie “Rudy” Garcia, Pueblo, Colo.; daughters, Elaine Mato Tama Hece, Allen, Holly Quinn, Allen, Marty Hawkins, Duncan, Neb., Dana Washington, Allen, Clara Poor Bear, Duncan, Cecil Poor Bear, Martin, April Poor Bear, Rapid City, Crystal Briones and Cheryl Briones, both of Norfolk, and Lisa Adair, Alliance; hunka daughters, Erica Reyes, Martin, Angela Bush, Allen, Lisa Jackson, Sisseton, Carol Lakota, Pine Ridge, and Keena Claussen, Martin; sons, Richard Cross, Allen, Miguel Marrufo, Porcupine, Ramon Marrufo, Eagle Butte, Wambli Poor Bear, Allen, Tony Marrufo, Kyle, and Justin Poor Bear, Allen; sisters, Elaine (Lindolfo) Martinez, Darlene Poor Bear and Mary Jealous of Him, all of Allen, Colene Bald Eagle, Martin, Linda Flores and Jennie Tilden, both of Columbus, Barbara Arnakin and Margie Barnes, both of Alliance, Neb. and Audra Youngman, Scottsbluff; brothers, Doug Poor Bear, Allen, and Donald Tilden, Columbus; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Poor Bear and Julia Lone Wolf; sisters, Myrtle Poor Bear, Angelina Poor Bear-Reyes and Rochelle Lone Wolf; brothers, Willard Poor Bear, Arveal Whirlwind Horse, MacArthur Poor Bear and Roscoe Poor Bear; daughter, Bobbie K. Hacker; and sons, Tom Poor Bear and Eustacio Marrufo, Jr.
A two night wake service started at 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, at the American Horse School Gymnasium in Allen.
Funeral services began at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, January 7, at the American Horse School Gymnasium in Allen, with Pastor Tim Wardell and Paul Bentley officiating. Mr. Jim Cross and Mr. Justin Poor Bear performed the traditional Lakota service.
Burial services were held at the Allen Community Cemetery, Allen.
