Moses Black Tail Deer, 73, of Rapid City, S.D., passed away December 31, 2017, in Yankton.

Moses Black Tail Deer was born on September 11, 1944, in Pine Ridge, to Thomas Black Tail Deer and Louise Flying Hawk. Moses made his journey to the Spirit World on December 31, 2017, in Yankton.

Moses is survived by his siblings, Celine Black Tail Deer, Florence Black Tail Deer, and James Black Tail Deer all of Yankton; nephews, Gordon Looks Twice, Sr., Leroy Looks Twice, Jr., Richard Looks Twice, and Alex Looks Twice, Sr. all of Manderson, and Scott Garcia, Flagstaff, Ariz.; and nieces, Louise DeSersa, Manderson, Juanita Begay, Flagstaff, Adrianna Black Tail Deer, Ariz., and Claradine Black Tail Deer, Sioux Falls. 

Moses was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Black Tail Deer and Louise Flying Hawk; sisters, Alva Looks Twice and Jane Black Tail Deer; and brother, Alex Black Tail Deer.

A one night wake service started at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 7, at the Wounded Knee District CAP Office in Manderson.

Rosary services were held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 7, at the Wounded Knee District CAP Office in Manderson.

Funeral services began at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 8, at the Wounded Knee District CAP Office in Manderson, with Father Edmund Yainao, S.J. officiating and Ms. Darla Black performed the traditional Lakota service.

Burial services were held at the Looks Twice Family Cemetery, Manderson.
