John Dean “JD” Ten Fingers “Wambli Isnala Mani” (Eagle Walks Alone), 33, of Oglala, S.D., passed away January 15, 2018, in Sioux Falls.
John Dean “JD” Ten Fingers was born on February 19, 1984, in Pine Ridge, to Lorie Dean Ten Fingers and Danelle Two Bulls. JD made his journey to the Spirit World on January 15, 2018, at the Sanford Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
JD is survived by his parents, Danelle (Lawrence) Two Bulls and Dean (Helena) Ten Fingers; special moms, Carleen Crow, “Angie Rose” Long Visitor, Roberta Little Spotted Horse, Hilda Kills Small, and Carol Bravo; children, Alila and Sienna Ten Fingers, Mackenzie “Monkey,” Kennedy “Fatgirl,” Dani “Beans,” Billy Joe “Lil’ Whiteguy,”, Sterling, Kera, Temari, Neil, and Lizzy; siblings, Sunny Rae, Bobby Ten Fingers, Jerrod Little, Lawrence III, Angel, Misty, Garrett, Jerred, Wayne, Sierra, Rebekkah, Will, Mike, and Mel; grandparents, Florence Ten Fingers, Vestana Two Lance, and Wanda Donavon; and special friend, Emily Two Lance.
JD was preceded in death by his grandparents, Della Mae Starr, Archie Hopes, Sr., Gary Tobacco, and Richard Ten Fingers, Sr; and his baby girls, Alexis and Taylor Ten Fingers.
Visitation services began at 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala.
Funeral services began at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, with Sister Connie Schmidt officiating. Mr. Ivis Long Visitor performed the traditional Lakota service.
Burial services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Wounded Knee.
