Orien Arlen Brown, 24, of Fort Thompson, S.D., passed away January 20, 2018, in Chamberlain.
Orien Arlen Brown was born on February 9, 1993, to Kimberly Cuny and Alan Brown. Orien made his journey to the Spirit World on January 20, 2018, near Chamberlain.
Orien enjoyed spending time with his daughter, friends, and family. He loved to play sports and being outdoors. Orien coached numerous high school and middle school athletic teams, he played baseball, basketball, volleyball, fast pitch, and darts all year round. Orien attended school in Pine Ridge, and graduated from Pine Ridge High School in 2011, after graduation, Orien attended the Minnesota West College and played basketball and baseball during his time there and graduated with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts in 2013. Orien also attended Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College where he played basketball and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Construction Tech.
Orien is survived by his parents, Kimberly Cuny and Alan Brown both of Pine Ridge; daughter, Blake Arori Brown, Grand Forks, N.D.; siblings, Thomas Cottier, Jr., Nashville, Tenn., Ashley Cottier, Pine Ridge, Cynthia Brown, Rapid City, Jacob Brown, Jesse Brown, Santia Goings, Corey Brown, Alan Brown, Jr., Aaron Brown, and Aiden Brown all of Pine Ridge; god-daughter, Mia Long Visitor, Pine Ridge; maternal grandparents, Francine Richards and Monte Whalen both of Pine Ridge, and Francis Cuny, Blackhawk; god parents, Irv Provost and Dorothy Two Bulls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Orien was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elgin D. Brown and Carol J. Ten Fingers.
A one night wake service started at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 23, at the Pine Ridge Middle School Gym in Pine Ridge, with Rosary Services at 7:00 p.m..
Funeral services began at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, at the Pine Ridge Middle School Gym in Pine Ridge, with Mr. Charles McGaa officiating.
Burial services were held at the Holy Rosary Mission Catholic Cemetery, Pine Ridge.
