Jessie Ann (Blacksmith) Bear Robe, 78, of Oglala, S.D., passed away April 29, 2018, in Rushville, Neb.
Jessie Ann (Blacksmith) Bear Robe was born on May 17, 1939, at Mission Flat to Harold Sierra and Mary (Bear Robe) Waters. Jessie made her journey to the Spirit World on April 29, 2018, at the Oglala Lakota Sioux Nursing Home near White Clay.
Jessie is survived by her daughters, Liz (Orin) Morrison, Melissa Blacksmith, Lenora Blacksmith, Karen Blacksmith, and Julie Blacksmith all of Oglala, Sage Blacksmith, Calico, Jenny Brewer, Pine Ridge, and Santi Yellow Horse, Rapid City; sons, Stan Blacksmith, Delayne Blacksmith, and Doyle Bad Heart Bull all of Oglala, and Clyde Blacksmith, White Horse; sister, Florence Sierra, Batesland; brother, Archie Sierra, Batesland; 38 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Sierra and Mary (Bear Robe) Waters; sons, Pete “June” Blacksmith and Robert Blacksmith; daughters, Eldean Blacksmith and Jayne Black Tail Deer; sisters, Betty Jones, Stella Two Bulls, and Delores Sierra; brother, Harlen Waters; grandsons, Dominic Blacksmith, Kyle Blacksmith, and Joseph Paul Blacksmith; and great-granddaughter, Enzo Kills Small-Looks Twice.
A one night wake service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 4, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, with Rosary Services starting at 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, with Sister Barb Bogenschutz officiating and Mr. Ivis Long Visitor, Sr. performing the traditional Lakota service.
Burial services will be held at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Cemetery, Lakeside, Oglala.
