Last week I said the Warriors playoff streak of 15 years looked like it was going to end but I am glad I am going to be wrong. If the teams that should win do, the Warriors will be in the playoffs and should be traveling to the far north to face Groton on Thursday, Oct. 19.

Warriors suffer first loss at hands of the Bison

Bennett County took on the Hot Springs Bison Friday night in Martin and the 11A visitors flexed their muscle on their way to a convincing 44-0 win.

Hot Springs scored 13 first quarter points on a pair of one yard runs by Kalub Wilson and a kick after by Matt Norton.

Morgan Harkless added a 3 yard run and after Norton’s kick the Bison were up 20-0

Bennett County traveled to Kyle last Friday to face the Little Wound Mustangs in high school football action, playing in the first night game every at the school. The Mustangs held their first game on their new field, complete with new lights, but the visiting Warriors used a strong defensive effort to take a 25-0 win.

Lady Warriors lose two matches

The Bennett County Lady  Warriors started their 2017 volleyball season on the road with a triangular with Stanley County and Wall.

In the first match, Stanley County won in three sets, 25-20, 25-20, 25-20.

In the match against Wall, the Eagles were victorious over the Lady Warriors, 25-14, 25-15, 25-17.

Local cowboys and cowgirls dominate at SDHSR

The South Dakota State High School Rodeo Finals was a huge success for six local cowboys and cowgirls. Tee Allen, Lyle Dillon, Lante Swallow, Carson Good, Mary Risse, and Karissa Rayhill all earned trips to Gillette, Wyo. July 13-22, for the National High School Finals Rodeo.

The Bennett County Cross Country team ran at the Douglas meet on Friday, August 25. There were 15 schools at the meet. 

Boys varsity ran a 5K. There were 56 runners with a winning time of 16:38.

Tee Allen takes seventh in High Jump at State Track and Field Meet

Several Bennett County athletes competed in the South Dakota State Class A Track and Field Meet last Friday in Tea and Saturday in Sioux Falls, with Tee Allen the lone Warrior placer with a seventh in the high jump, clearing 6’1.”
