Bakley and Gangone to play on All Star Team

By Marj Oleske

Chandler Bakley and Jerome Gangone, members of Post 240’s Legion Baseball team, were chosen to play on the American Legion All Star Team. The boys will travel to Lake Norden, S.D., where they will play a double header with North vs. South, on Monday August 1. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

“I am extremely proud of our Post 240 players that were selected to the American Legion All Star team,” commented Coach Gangone. “These two guys certainly deserve it. Chandler has been a solid player that I inherited from Bennett County. He is always ready to help out with practices and in some cases lead them. He is a great athlete and role model.”

“Jerome has been working hard at improving his fundamentals and has improved his pitching accuracy and consistency. He is still a young guy and I believe he will only get better. I wouldn’t be surprised to see these guys leading their college teams some day. We have tons of talent on our whole team and I have been lucky to have inherited a club of great gentlemen.”

Bakley and Gangone are the first Post 240 players named to the team. They both agreed, “they are honored to receive this prestigious award.”
