BOARD OF BENNETT COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH, 2013

MARTIN, SOUTH DAKOTA

The Bennett County Board of Commissioners met in special session Wednesday, February 13th, 2013, in the Commissioner’s meeting room.

Chairman Rolf Kraft called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m.

Commissioners present: Rolf Kraft, Dennis Gregg, Jason Fanning and Wayne Bond Newton Cummings arrived at 1:00 p.m.

Others Present: Susan Williams, Auditor; Luke Hamar, Sheriff and Tim Huether, Bennett County Booster.

Jail

A Conference call was held with Jerry Johnson, GA Johnson Construction, Inc; Steve Davis, HMN Architects, Inc; and an accountant working with GA Johnson Construction. There was extensive discussion concerning the budget and the amount needed to build and operate a jail.

Horseshoe Bar

Rolf Kraft reported an incident at the Horseshoe Bar. Mr. Kraft explained the States Attorney Ken Orrock had contacted him and discussed the situation. Sheriff Luke Hamar met with the Board to explain the incident. Sheriff Hamar reported the bar had been open all night which had violated the terms of the probation and he requested a suspension of the license. There was some discussion.

Dennis Gregg made a motion to immediately suspend the liquor license for the Horseshoe Bar until such time as the Board of Commissioners can establish a proper hearing date with the owner, Marvin Grass. Newton Cummings seconded.

All voted aye. Motion carried.

There being no further business to come before the Commissioners Jason Fanning made a motion to adjourn with a second by Wayne Bond.

All voted aye. Motion carried.
