Martin City Board of Equalization

The Martin City Council setting as a Board of Equalization met at the Library Community Room at 101 Main Street on March 19, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.
Mayor Gary Rayhill called the meeting to order with Council Members, Cecilia Moffitt, Walter York, Shirley McCue, Chuck Gotheridge, Angie Hicks and school board member Mike Olson present. Absent, Gregg Claussen.
Others present were, Jeff Siscoe and Finance Officer Jean Kirk.
Board of Equalization: The board met to review the tax assessment property book. There was one grievance filed by Janice Whittle. Mrs. Whittle thinks that her property is assessed too high and that she would never be able to sell her properties for what the assessment is. Director of Equalization, Jeff Siscoe explained how he arrived at his assessment. He had a list of recent comparable sales that the Council reviewed. After further discussion, York moved to leave the assessed value at $28,209. Seconded by McCue, all voting aye, motion carried.
As there were no more residents present with any objections a motion was entered by Moffitt and seconded by Hicks to certify the accuracy of the 2018 tax assessment role. All voting aye, motion carried.
A motion to adjourn the 2018 Board of Equalization meeting was entered by McCue and seconded by Hicks. All voting aye, motion carried.
Mayor Gary Rayhill called the City Council meeting to order.
Approval of Agenda: York moved to approve the agenda with a second by Hicks. All voting aye, motion carried.
Civil Disturbance Annex: After discussion with Jeff Siscoe Bennett County Emergency Manager Hicks moved to approve the Civil Disturbance Annex. York seconded the motion, all voting aye, motion carried.
As there was no further business to come before the Council at this time, a motion was entered by Hicks to adjourn the meeting.
