For the second time in five weeks, thieves broke into Kratovil’s True Value Hardware Aug. 3, exiting with four pistols and one shotgun, worth approx. $1,800. They also caused damage exceeding $1,500 by breaking out the front door and the pistol case.
A frustrated owner, Matt Kratovil, said, “We will no longer carry handguns in the store, but can order them in for people. We need to get something done about the break-ins and other problems like this. If anyone has any information about who did this, turn them in...we don’t need these people in our community.”
Kratovil’s True Value was also broken into on June 30, that incident resulting in the theft of two pistols worth a combined $1,600, plus about $2,000 in damages.
The crimes are under investigation by the Martin Police Department, the DCI and FBI.
