At her final concert as a music teacher at Martin Grade School, Anne Lyon chose the theme of “Friends” for the songs her second and third grade students would perform.
The students performed “You Gave Me Your Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie,” “Best Friends Forever,” and “Talkin’ About My Friend.”
Group solos for these songs were performed by Zoe Alexander, Hallie Baker, Ryker Heath, Aspen Loomis, Jerald Lyon, and Sadie Schomp.
The concert continued as the students sang a round verson of “Make New Friends,” and “Kindness.”
Featured soloists were Jacelyn Bissonette, Aris Fanning, Rhyder Harris, Kingston Moffitt, Lizzie Robinson, and Clara Weber.
Mrs. Lyon extended a “very special thank you to my colleagues at Martin Grade School, administration, parents, as well as custodial staff for all of their support throughout the years. It’s truly been a blessing to be able to share the joy of music with the students of Bennett County Schools for the past 21 years.”
At the end of the concert, Mrs. Lyon was recognized for her years of service by Elementary Principal Amy Kuxhaus, and was presented flowers and gardening supplies by two of her grandchildren, Jerald and Olivia Lyon.
The audience showed their appreciation for her work with a standing ovation.
