The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 240 met on Wednesday, June 12, after a pot luck supper with members of the American Legion Post 240 along with their guests, Ken Frey and Cliff Rininger of the Rushville American Legion Post 161. A birthday cake decorated for the American Legion’s 100th birthday was served to all.
The 2019/2020 Budget was present and approved. Reports were given on Membership, which the unit ended with 170 members; Community Service, served one funeral luncheon, and the upcoming Blood Drive on July 9. A thank you was received from Laney Fanning for the donation to the Rodeo Club.
The unit voted to put in new light fixtures in the kitchen. The committees for the 2019/2020 year were presented and approved. They are Americanism, Kathy Rayhill; Auxiliary Emergency Fund, Kathleen Kocourek; Children, Youth and Education, Belinda Ready; Community Service, Sally Zacher, Paulette Fanning, Kathy Rayhill, and Garnet Audiss; Constitution and ByLaws, Garnet Audiss; Girls State, Lonna Johnson; Junior Activities, Cindy Knecht, Teresa Mosher; Legislation and Public Relations, Marj Oleske Frew; Leadership, Anne Lyon; National Security, Stacey Robinson; Past Presidents Parley, Joan Spears; Poppy, Cindy Knecht, Teresa Mosher, and Mary Kay Sell; Veterans Affairs and Retirement, Paulette Fanning and Sally Zacher. Also planned was a cleaning day and the meal for the September meeting.
The American Legion Auxiliary does not meet during July and August. The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at 7:30 p.m., with a pot luck meal at 6:30 p.m., with the American Legion Members. The Girls and Boys Staters along with their families will be invited to this.
