4-H Public Presentations given at Court House

Twelve 4-H participants entered the Public Presentations event held Tuesday, July 9, in the Bennett County Courtroom.

The topics were unique to each speaker, and showed much of their individual personalities.

In the Beginner Member age group, Rachel Farley earned a purple ribbon in her demonstration, Slime Time, teaching the audience how to make the popular kids recipe for fun.

Another Beginner Member, Ruger Smokov, brought antlers for visuals for his demonstration, Difference Between Whitetail and Mule Deer. Ruger earned a blue ribbon.

Ashley Farley, another Beginner Member, wore an appropriate t-shirt with a rooster graphic, as she gave her illustrated talk, Lay the Rainbow. Ashley earned a blue ribbon as she explained the details of how chicken eggs get their colors.

Junior Member Wyatt Huber earned a purple ribbon for his demonstration The Wild and Wacky World of Watersheds. Wyatt explained what watersheds are, focusing on the natural features of South Dakota.

Ellen McDonnell, another Junior Member, earned a purple ribbon as she fed the audience samples of her recipe which she demonstrated on how to make Crockpot Granola.

Senior Member Gage Jager earned a purple ribbon for his illustrated talk, Auto Hot Key. His computer and technology expertise shone threw his talk.

Hunter Laverack, another Senior Member, gave a public speaking presentation on his recent experience, National 4-H Shooting Sports. His first-hand experience earned him a purple ribbon.

Senior Member Katie McDonnell demonstrated the importance of Sensory Play for Toddlers in her illustrated talk. The props used in her presentation seemed fun for many ages. Katie earned a purple ribbon.

Frank Huber, Senior Member, earned a purple ribbon for his conservation demonstration, Is Your Soil Healthy? This subject is a natural for Frank.

Grace Jager brought in a higher level of technology in her illustrated talk, Software Defined Radios. Grace earned a purple ribbon for her expertise in the technology field.

Senior Member Laney Fanning challenged the idea of traditional plant growth with her illustrated talk, Aquaponics System. Laney earned a blue ribbon for her presentation.

Senior Member Gabe Fanning brought his personal experience to his talk, History of the Page Program. Gabe earned a purple ribbon and answered many questions about his recent experience as a Senate Page.
