The regular Martin City Council meeting, scheduled for, September 11, was held Monday, September 16, due to a lack of quorum.
City Attorney Sarah Frankenstein joined the meeting by phone, to answer any questions. Chuck Gotheridge was the only council member not present.
Police Chief Brandon Petersen was present, along with city residents Gloria Claussen, Joyce Wilson, Bill Kuxhaus, Kelvin McCollam, and Kevin Rascher.
Kent Penney, airport planner for Kadrmas, Lee, and Jackson, presented information about the Airport Layout Plan to the Council and others in attendance. The agreement presented includes all the details necessary to continue the Airport Project.
The main details discussed at the meeting included the need to purchase six acres on the west side, and 12 acres on the east side of the current property, to give enough of a perimeter to put the fence in place. Penney explained, “When it gets to the point of you actually acquiring the land, at that point, once you have those purchase agreements in place, we will be working on expediting a grant to get it paid to you, hopefully before you acquire the land. But you need to have a signed purchase agreement in place.”
Shirley McCue asked, “What if we are not able to get the land?”
