Martin Police Chief Brandon Petersen reports that on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, the department conducted a search warrant in relation to stolen property and narcotics. “The warrant was fruitful, which means we did obtain some stolen property and some narcotics and made one arrest. The stolen property was an assist for the Mitchell Police Department, and the narcotics was a local case. The Mitchell Police Department will need to confirm the stolen property.”
Thomas James Moffitt, 34, of Martin, was arrested and charged with: Count 1: Unauthorized Manufacture, Distribution, Counterfeiting or Possession of Schedule I or II Substances. Count 2: Unauthorized Ingestion of Controlled Drug or Substance. Count 3: Unauthorized Possession of a Controlled Substance. Count 4: Ingesting an Illegal Substance. Count 5: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Moffitt appeared in the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court on September 5, 2019, for the offenses, and was ordered to appear in the same court on September 26, 2019. Moffitt was released on a $5,000 bond, set by Judge Brown, which was paid in full. Moffitt was also required to meet other stipulations as set by the judge.
