Theft results in Damen Long Soldier being charged on multiple counts

A theft which occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m., Monday, January 13, at LaCroix’s True Value Hardware in Martin, ended with the suspect being located and arrested at a residence in the 900 Block of 2nd Avenue in Martin.

Eighteen year old Damen Long Soldier, of the Rapid City area, has been charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unauthorized Ingestion of Controlled Drug or Substance; Three Counts of Grand Theft, Obstructing Law Enforcement Officer, Ingesting an Illegal Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernaila.

Three VR-60 12 gauge shotguns, valued at less than or equal to $2,500 each, were taken during the theft. One shotgun has been recovered, according to Police Chief Brandon Petersen, with the other two still being missing. 

The case is under investigation, and Long Soldier is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
