The Martin Community Heritage Center will open for the season on Wednesday, June 5, at 1 p.m. It has been open by appointment through the winter and spring.
The first grade classes of Martin Grade School recently visited and showed much interest in the history of the community. Favorite items were the brass bed, the piano, the typewriter and adding machine.
Mrs. Strain’s third grade class also visited, as well as Mrs. Larson, Mrs. Smokov and exchange students from Bennett County High School.
A new acquisition is an antique International tractor. It was owned by John Kocer, sold to Tony Freouf, and then brought back to the Kocer farm, where it sat in the trees for over 40 years.
The Heritage Center will be hosting a special event on Saturday, June 22, “Cruise into Martin.” A picnic lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A freewill offering will be taken for the lunch.
Bring in any vehicle, in any condition, for the hometown cruise. Reserved parking will be available for those vehicles.
The Heritage Center will be open that day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy a fun day with friends. Bennett County High School’s class of 1963, (50 years,) will be among the guests.
We appreciate the community support given to the Heritage Center and look forward to seeing everyone on June 22.
