Martin man arrested for Farmingdale shooting

A Martin man has been arrested for shooting another man late Wednesday, July 15, near Farmingdale. Joseph Francis Marshall, 28, from Martin, S.D. was arrested on two counts of Aggravated Assault, DUI-second offense, Possession of a Firearm with a previous felony drug conviction and two out-of-county warrants (Resisting Officer and Simple Assault, both out of Bennett County).

Pennington County Deputies responded to a report of a gunshot wound at 11:02 p.m., July 15, near Farmingdale east of Rapid City, near mile marker 65 on South Dakota Highway 44. After they arrived, a team from the Criminal Investigations Unit was called to assist.

A group of three men were traveling from Martin to Rapid City when they ran out of gas. The shooting happened after an argument. The victim, a 40 year old male from Martin was shot in the chest and taken by air ambulance to Monument Health in Rapid City. He sustained serious life-threatening injuries.

The investigation continues with the assistance of the Rapid City Police Department.
