Commissioners still looking to hire Highway Superintendant

The Bennett County Board of Commissioners met in regular session last Wednesday, September 15. All commissioners, Judd Schomp, Rod Kirk, Jeff Slattery, Blu Donovan and Dave Bakley, were present.

Straight away, Schomp motioned to table the hiring of a new Highway Superintendant until the next meeting because, “I don’t think we’re quite ready yet.” The motion died as there was no second.

Bakley made a motion to hire Bob Ceplecha as Highway Superintendant, effective Monday, September 20, with a wage of $45,000 per year, Kirk seconded. Voting aye: Bakley and Kirk, voting nay: Slattery, Schomp and Donovan. The motion failed. They will keep advertising for applicants.
