City council hears complaints on code enforcement, question costs, hear concerns on combining city police with county

By Jonni Joyce

Is it worth it? That became the question before the Martin City Council at their regular meeting held in the Library Community room on June 14 as they discussed the cost of code enforcement happening throughout the city.

Sitting in the gallery were two Martin citizens waiting their turn to speak about how code enforcement was negatively affecting them. The discussion arose early in the meeting under an agenda item that is normally approved quickly, the paying of the claims.Council members Gregg Claussen and Jay Yohner drove the conversation.

Councilman Jay Yohner questioned the fee charged by city attorney Sara Frankenstein for Professional Services, specifically what was billed for code enforcement.
