By Tim Huether The Bennett County School District has named Losette Asong as their 202324 Teacher of the Year for the District, according to High School Principal Craig Courbron at the March 21 regular school board meeting. “She will now compete in the Regional Teacher of the Year competition,” said Courbron.

It was a great weekend to be a Warrior! The Bennett County youth wrestlers worked hard at the State AAU Meet this past weekend in Rapid City and brought home Girls Tots 46 Avery Toczek placed 3rd and scored 22.5 team points. Champ.

The Bennett County Commissioners moved to hire Linay Johnston as Bennett County deputy auditor at their March 6, regular board meeting. Johnston is the current county assessor and will split her time between the two jobs for now. Her pay was approved at $60,000 per year with the wages to be split equally between the two offices for now.

Lily Cotten has had her mind set on working in the world of medicine. Even at a young age she wanted to help people and work in the field of medicine. The dream is to become a pediatric doctor. It looks like that dream is close to coming true for this Bennett County Senior. After graduation, Lily will set out to Mombasa, Kenya to get a hands-on experience in medicine.

The event included trivia that was open to the public and tested people’s knowledge of reading, math, science, social studies, current events, and included a miscellaneous category. There were two rounds of play while the Acalympic students monitored the tables. The event was hosted by Miss South Dakota.
