Wake service: On night service starting at 2:00 p.m, Friday, December 7, 2012 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall, Kyle.

Funeral services: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall, Kyle

Officiating: Reverend Kim Montileaux and Reverend Cordelia Red Owl 

Burial: St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Cemetery, Kyle

Survivors include son, Merle Whistler, Manteca, Calif.; daughter,  Cheryl Whistler, Pine Ridge; adopted daughter, Dr. Kim Montileaux, Kyle; brother, Everette Janis, Kyle; sisters, Mabel Janis, Kyle, and Sharon and Elton Yellow Boy, both of Rapid City; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Alice (Fool Head) Janis; spouse; William Whistler; brothers and sisters, Kenneth Janis, Evelyn Long Soldier, Louise Janis, and Elizabeth Janis; and grandchildren, Jarrod and Jordan Whistler.
