Orville J. Conroy

Orville J. Conroy, 80, of Batesland, S.D., passed away September 16, 2012, in Rapid City.

A one night wake service was held Friday, September 21, at St. Michael’s Church,  Batesland.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 22, also at the Church, with Father Rick Abert S.J. officiating and traditional Lakota services led by Sidney Has No Horse. 

Burial was at Knight Cemetery, Batesland.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Conroy, Batesland; sons, Rex Conroy and Ben Conroy, both of Batesland, and Eric Conroy, Minn.; daughters, Rena Conroy, Connie Sierra, Sophia Conroy and Danielle Conroy, all of Batesland; sisters, Delores Blacketter, Colo., and Norma Bartlett, Idaho; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Ben and Esther (Cottier) Conroy; son, John O Conroy; brothers, Delbert Conroy and Melvin Conroy; sisters, Aileen Lester and Sophie Hanneman.

Arrangements entrusted with Sioux Funeral Home, Pine Ridge.
