Reuben James Yellow Thunder, Jr., 44, of Oglala, S.D., passed away September 17, 2017, in Rapid City.
Reuben James “To’” Yellow Thunder, Jr. was born on December 27, 1972, in Pine Ridge, to Reuben Yellow Thunder, Sr. and Serena Two Elk. Reuben passed away on September 17, 2017, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.
Reuben is survived by his wife, Lori Yellow Thunder, Oglala; mother, Serena Two Elk, Oglala; step-father, Manuel Two Bulls, Oglala; mother-in-law, Corrine Brave, Oglala; sisters, Carmelita (Darren) Yellow Thunder-New Holy, Courtney Two Elk, and Sherry Black Bear all of Oglala, and Tess Chase In Sight, #4; grandmother, Sylvia Yellow Thunder, Hot Springs; children, Cheyenne Silva, Va., Chavez Little-Yellow Thunder, Rapid City, Santiago Yellow Horse, Reuben Waters-Yellow Thunder III, Jodessa Yellow Thunder, Leona Yellow Thunder, Bradley Yellow Thunder, and Reuben Yellow Thunder IV all of Rapid City; step-children, Hoksila, Kaymie, and Jodean all of Oglala; grandchildren, EJ Silva, Alex Silva, Coni, Chavez, Jr., Chyson, Ashley, Mylieh, Ronessa, Braydon, Mason, Tayson, and Celesie all of Rapid City,; aunts, Carmelita Two Elk (Cecial Bear Robe), Emily Two Elk, Genevieve Chase In Sight, and Roberta Two Elk; uncles, Alex (Roberta) Two Elk, Curtis, Orville, Tom, and Patrick Yellow Thunder.
Reuben was preceded in death by his father, Reuben Yellow Thunder, Sr.; son, Cody (Yellow Thunder) Little; grandparents, Aaron and Julia Two Elk and Winfred Yellow Thunder; great grandparents, James White Bird and Winnie Chase In Sight; uncles, Winfred Yellow Thunder, Jr., James “Jim” Yellow Thunder, Sr., Aloysius Two Elk, and Aaron Two Elk, Jr.; and aunt, Grace Two Elk-Black Bear.
A two night wake service was held with the first night at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 21, at the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall in Oglala, and the second night at 3:00 p.m., Friday, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala.
Funeral services began at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, with Sister Barb Bogenschutz officiating.
Burial services were held at the Pine Creek Cemetery, #4.
