Waylon Dean Red Elk, Jr., 1, of Wanblee, S.D., passed away November 4, 2017, near Porcupine.
Waylon Dean Red Elk Jr. was born on October 4, 2016, to Jaylene D. Pretends Eagle and Waylon D. Red Elk Sr. Baby Waylon was welcomed into the world happily by his father as his first born son.
He is survived by big brothers Jeriah Clairmont, Corn Creek, Buddy Clairmont, Corn Creek, Heath Pretends Eagle-Red Owl, Wanblee, Hoksila Luta Pretends Eagle, Wanblee, and Darian Abbey, Bismarck, N.D. Maternal Grandmother Phylis Wilcox, Wanblee, and maternal grandfather Howard Pretends Eagle, Mobridge. Paternal grandmother Annie Red Elk, Wanblee. Numerous cousins, aunties and uncles of the Pretends Eagle and Red Elk families.
He was preceded in death by his mother Jaylene D. Pretends Eagle and Waylon D. Red Elk Sr., Dallas Dean Red Elk and paternal grandfather Roger Red Elk Sr.
A two night wake service started at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, with Episcopal Mass at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, at the School Gym in Wanblee.
Funeral services began at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 13, at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, with Father Ed Hunt officiating.
Burial services were held at the Gethsemane Episcopal Cemetery in Wanblee.
