Hope Madonna (Stands) Tirado “Cante’ Ohitika Win”, 50, of Oglala, S.D., passed away December 21, 2017, in Rapid City.
She was a veteran of the US Army.
Hope Madonna (Stands) Tirado, “Cante’ Ohitika Win” was born on May 4, 1967, in Pine Ridge, to Homer Paul Stands, Sr. and Helen (Long Warrior) Stands. Hope passed away on December 21, 2017, at the Regional Health Home Plus Hospice in Rapid City.
Hope is survived by children, John Sitting Holy, Jr., Box Elder, Cinnamon Flying Hawk, Sioux City, Iowa; Roberto Jaquez, Alicia Munoz, and Pedro Munoz all of Pine Ridge; siblings, Loretta Zimiga/Stands, Vermillion, Fred Stands, Oglala; Hazel Maria Stands, Rapid City; Happy Stands, Oglala, Henrietta Nelson-Stands and Hubert Stands both of Okla., and Victoria Stands, Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Wanipila Sitting Holy, Magaju Sitting Holy, Gabriel Rodriguez, Isaiah Rodriguez, Miguel Tapia, and Storm Grimaldo.
Hope was preceded in death by her parents, Homer, Sr. and Helen Stands; siblings, Jerry Stands, James Stands, Harriett Stands, Hank Stands, Homer Stands, II, Lyle Stands, and Harvey Stands; and cousin, Harry Stands, II.
Visitation services were held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City.
Rosary services began at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, at the St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City.
Funeral services began at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 29, at the St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City, with Father Ed Witt, S.J. officiating.
Burial services were held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, December 29, at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
