Carole Lynne McCoy, 64 of Denton, Texas, passed away January 26, 2018, of colon cancer at the Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Carole was born November 9, 1953, in Hot Springs, S.D., to Doreen and Linn McCoy. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Katharine’s Episcopal Church in Martin.
Carole graduated from Bennett County High School in 1973 and finished two years of college at Chadron in 1975. Soon after Carole met Gary Grinnell and they were married in 1976 and to this union they had two children, a son Vada Grinnell and a daughter Ivy Cox (son Dakota).
In her early years Carole was a member of 4-H and later became the leader of the Club. Carole was also involved with Jobs Daughters and was Honored Queen. She was very active in her church, where she was in church choir, altar guild, and ECW. While she lived in Texas, she was a member of the Legion Auxiliary. Carole worked at many places in her lifetime. She worked at Albertsons in Rapid City, SD, then transferred to Texas to continue working with Albertsons. Carole retired at the age of 62 in 2016. Although she was still very involved in any volunteer work in which she was needed.
Carole’s survivors include her parents Doreen and Linn McCoy, her son Vada Grinnell, her daughter Ivy Cox, grandson Dakota Cox, three sisters Dorynda (Tim) Dusek, Teresa Puckett, Marty (Scott) Bauman and one brother John McCoy, nine nieces and nephews and fifteen great-nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Carole will be forever missed and remembered by all.
Memorial services were held Saturday February 3, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at St. Katharine’s Episcopal Church in Martin.
