Duane “Red” Woodrow Goings “Anpo Wicahpi”, 72, of Pine Ridge, S.D., passed away April 12, 2018, in Pine Ridge.
Duane “Red” Woodrow Goings was born on August 26, 1945, in Pine Ridge, to Roland and Rebecca (Cuny) Goings. Duane made his journey to the Spirit World on April 12, 2018, at the Pine Ridge I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge.
Duane is survived by his wife, Angie American Horse-Goings; daughters, Crystal Gayle Goings-Davis and Theresa Rebecca Ann Goings; son, Daryl Goings, Sr.; sisters, Fern Goings, Joyce Goings, and Melody Talbot; brothers, Marty Goings, Sr. and Victor Goings; grandchildren, Katana Davis, Duane Davis, Angela Davis, Arianna Davis, Gerald Cottier, Titan Goings, Daryl Goings, Jr., and Kelsey Goings; great-grandchildren, Mary Cottier, Lalona Goings, and Uriah Lafferty, Jr.
Duane was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Ann Cuny-Goings; father, Roland Scope Goings; brothers, Mike Goings, Richard Goings, and Sylvester Goings; and sister, Bernadette Bordeaux.
A one night wake service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, with Vigil Services at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, with Father Edmund Yainao, S.J. officiating and Mr. Mike Sna Mani, Jr. performing the traditional Lakota service.
Burial services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Pine Ridge.
