Coleman, Wilson Sr.

Wilson George Coleman, Sr., 75, of Porcupine, S.D., passed away September 2, 2018, in Pine Ridge.

Wilson George Coleman, Sr. was born on August 26, 1943, to Maurice Coleman and Dorothy Left Hand Bull and was raised by James and Helen Crowe. Wilson made his journey to the Spirit World on September 2, 2018, at the Pine Ridge I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge.

Wilson is survived by his spouse, Ella Coleman, Porcupine; children, Tisha (Hector) Martinez, Schuyler, Neb., Tricia Coleman, Porcupine, Wilson Coleman, Jr. and Tracey (Tom Thunder Hawk) Coleman both of Rapid City, Jessie (Dave) Shicky, Schuyler, Neb., Maurice Coleman, Dottie (Santee) Witt, and Clifton Coleman all of Porcupine; hunka children, Zady Brown Bull, Potato Creek, Brandon Beagley and David Hamblin, Provo, Utah, Daniel Never Misses A Shot, Denver, Colo., and Dave Javier, Manitoba, Canada; hunka sister, Linda White Face, Porcupine, hunka brothers, Elmer White Face and David Swallow both of Porcupine; sisters, Sherry High Hawk and Francine Running Shield both of Porcupine; brother, Wayne High Hawk, Porcupine; 32 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Coleman, Abraham High Hawk, Dorothy Left Hand Bull, and James and Helen Crowe; children, Corey Coleman, Christopher Coleman, and Korena Crowe; sisters, Katherine White Bull, Rachel Janis, and Elsie Whiting; brother, Thomas Crowe; grandson, Isaac Jumping Eagle; and great grandchildren, Darrell Coleman, Freedom Coleman, and Leah Coleman.

A one night wake service started at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 7, at the Elderly Meals Building in Porcupine, with vigil services at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services began at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8, at the Elderly Meals Building in Porcupine, with final viewing services at the Coleman Residence, with Pastor Matt Hadden and Reverend Don Mink officiating. Mr. Emerson Spider, Jr. gave the eulogy and Chief Leonard Crow Dog and Mr. Santee Witt performed the traditional Laktoa service.

Burial services were held at the White Bull Family Cemetery, Porcupine.
