Eric Jay Poor Thunder, 45, of Rapid City, S.D. passed away on November 14, 2018 at Rapid City.
Eric Jay Poor Thunder was born on September 20, 1973 in Martin to Carl Standing Bear and Virginia Poor Thunder. Eric made his journey to the Spirit World on November 14 at the Meadowbrook Care and Rehabilitation Center in Rapid City.
Eric is survived by his wife Johanna DuBray, Rapid City; children, Jonette DuBray, Rapid City and Tianna DuBray of Big Timber, Mont.; grandchildren, Shayna DuBray and Bow Good Voice Elk, Jr., both of Rapid City, and Ayden DuBray, Big Timber; father, Carl Standing Bear, Martin; siblings, Trinity Poor Thunder, Rapid City, Carla, Dave, Carl Jr., Jon, Jaden and Niquel Standing Bear, all of Martin; aunts and uncles, Robin, Patricia, Isaac, Gordon Sr., Gene Sr., and Caroline Standing Bear, Mary Poor Thunder and Isadore Poor Thunder, all of Martin, Hermus Poor Thunder and Fern Poor Thunder, both of Red Shirt Table, and Craig Poor Thunder, Rapid City; hunka “Mom,” Sharon Richards, Rapid City; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Poor Thunder; brother, Arlo Poor Thunder; grandparents, Isadore Sr. and Tillie Poor Thunder, and Edsel and Evelyn Standing Bear; uncle, Jerome Black Eyes; aunt, Maude Standing Bear; cousins, Barbara Standing Bear, Santana Standing Bear, Edsel Standing Bear and Richard Standing Bear; nieces, Tiffany and Tina Libby; nephews, Gabe and Victor Standing Bear; and grandsons, Jordan and Darin.
Two night wake services started at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 17 at the LaCreek CAP Office in Martin with prayer services starting at 7:00 p.m. each night.
Funeral Services started at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 19 at the LaCreek CAP Office in Martin.
Officiating was Pastor Hermus Poor Thunder.
Traditional Lakota Services were officiated by Mr. Bill Good Voice Elk, Jr.
Burial Services were held at LaCreek Cemetery, Martin.
