William Lew Koenen aka Edward Allen Murdock “Sasijiwan” ~Calm Waters~, 69, of Porcupine, S.D. passed away on November 12, 2018 at Rapid City.
William “Bill” Lew Koenen was born on April 18, 1949 in Ashland, Wis. to Edward Marshall and Betty Murdock and was adopted by Lew and Martha (Oranger) Koenen when he was 2 years old. William made his journey to the Spirit World on November 12 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.
William is survived by his wife, Emily (Iron Cloud) Koenen, Porcupine; children, Bradley Koenen of Nashville, Tenn., Angela, Mark, Jeremy and Lew Koenen, all of Porcupine; sisters, Lisa Hendrickson, Duluth, Minn., Rebecca Carol and Rachel Myron, both of Olympia, Wash., and Jeanette Mardis Fleming, Hammond, Ind.; brother, Terry Rogers, Hammond; cousins, Diane Kerr, Shakopee and Debbie Nelson, Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; and extended relatives, the Iron Cloud Family.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Marshall and Betty Murdock; adopted parents, Lew and Martha Koenen; and sister, Betty Murdock.
A one night wake service started at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 18 at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine.
Funeral Services started at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 19, at the Porcupine School Gym.
Eyapaha was Mr. Richard Iron Cloud.
Traditional Lakota Services were led by Mr. Ty Lunderman and Mr. Thomas Yellow Cloud.
Burial Services were held at Eddie and Mary Iron Cloud Family Cemetery, Porcupine.
