Rhiannon Dee (Schreiner) Janis, 35, of Pine Ridge, S.D. passed away on December 27, 2018 at Pine Ridge.

On January 11, 1983, Rhiannon Dee Schreiner-Janis was born to Jay, Sr. and Pamla (Roberts) Schreiner in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Rhiannon is survived by her loving husband, Leon Janis, Jr.; beloved children, Leon III, JayAnn, Anna Louise, and Pamela Jaye Janis, all of Pine Ridge; brothers, Jay (Tahnee Black Feather) Schreiner, Jr. and Theodore “TJ” (Heather) Ferguson, both of Rapid City, Lane Bissonette and Brandon Schreiner, Sr., both of Pine Ridge; sister, Tasheena (Jesse) Red Wing, Pine Ridge; uncles, Brandon Schreiner and Mike Akers, both of Pine Ridge; Eugene Roberts, Jr. and Norman Roberts, both of Fairbanks; aunts, Jodi (Ned) Johns of Gordon, Neb., Paulette Schreiner, Andrea Akers, and JoAnn Pourier, all of Pine Ridge, Lori (Robert) Clarke, Alexandria, La., Jackie Jensen and Brenda Meeker, both of Fairbanks; grandparents, Dell and Esther Hayward, Anchorage, Eugene Roberts, Sr. and Marie Jenson, both of Fairbanks, Josephine Richards, Denby, LaVonne Richards, Umatilla, Ore., Richard LaPointe, Rapid City, and Jim and Goldie Knoderer, both of St. Cloud, Fla.; father-in-law, Leon Janis, Sr. and mother-in-law, Linda Grass, both of Pine Ridge; nieces, nephews, and cousins, Charlee, Harlee’ Michael Bobby, Jaylee, Taysean, Kaia, Whitney (Rich), Tianna (Michael), Tyra, Tom, Anthony, Celeste, Ashley, Celiese, Lainey, Dylan, Jensen (Don), Brandon, Jr., Telfore, Karlie, Nevaeh, Tate, Xavien, Jeremy, and Jesse; godchildren, Cecelia Two Two, Madison Brown, and Treasure Sitting Holy; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Rhiannon was preceded in death by her dearly missed parents, Jay and Pamla Schreiner; grandparents, Robert and Anna Schreiner, Leroy “Show” Richards, Leonard Richards, Delbert and Elfrieda Amiotte, Calvin and Beulah Pourier, Ramona LaPointe, and William Schreiner; great-grandparents, Esaw and Elsie Roberts, Martha and Christopher Charlie, Theodore Richards, Emil Albert and Zona Pourier, and Paul Schreiner; uncles, Charles Schreiner and Richard Schreiner; and aunt, Annette Roberts.  

A one night wake service started at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge with Rosary Services starting at 7:00 p.m. 

Mass of Christian Burial started at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Officiating were Carol LaDeaux and Father Joe Daoust, S.J. 

Traditional Lakota Services were officiated by Richard Giago and Joey Giago.

Burial Services were held at Holy Rosary Catholic Mission Cemetery, Pine Ridge.

Arrangements entrusted with Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge.
