Alice Marie Pourier, 73, Pine Ridge, was born on June 19, 1945, in Howe Creek, Neb., to Ernest James and Martha (Rouillard) James. Alice made her journey to the Spirit World on April 3, 2019, at her home near Pine Ridge.
Alice is survived by her children, Kolet (Scott) Logan of Saginaw, Mich., Michelle Pourier, Janelle Pourier, Lynette Pourier, Charla Pourier, and Charles (Jolene) Pourier, all of Pine Ridge; brother, Arthur “Butch” James, Niobrara, Neb.; hunka daughter, Stephanie Gutierrez, St. Louis, Mo.; hunka sons, Robert Patton, Pine Ridge, and Courtney Yurholar, Oklahoma City, O.K.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cousins.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Martha (Rouillard) James; spouse, Charles E. Pourier; and siblings, Cecil Rouillard, Doris James, Sonny Guy James, Rosa Red Wing, Mary Morrill, Richard James, and Lila James.
Pallbearers were Lance Rouillard, Stuart Red Wing, Bill James, Delbert Red Wing Jr., Bill White, Bob White, Phil Davis, and Louie Janis. Honorary Pallbearers were all friends and relatives.
A one night wake service was held Monday, April 8, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, with a rosary service.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, April 9, also at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Edmund Yainao S.J., and Mr. Charles McGaa officiating. Traditional Lakota Services were led by Mr. Mike Carlow.
Burial was at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
