Wendell Janis Jr. Obit

Wendell James Janis Jr. was born January 6, 1963, in Wounded Knee, S.D., to Wendell Janis Sr. and Elfreda Wounded Horse. Wendell Jr.,  56, of Denver, Colo., made his journey to the Spirit World on April 28, 2019 in Denver.

Wendell, Jr. is survived by his mother, Elfreda Wounded Horse of Wounded Knee, SD; sisters, Bernadine Littleton and Jennifer (Dale Bear Saves Life) Chase Alone, both of Wounded Knee, SD; brothers, Jonathan Wounded Horse of Wounded Knee, SD and Rowayne (Velvedene) Wounded Horse of Pine Ridge, SD; aunt, Christine Wounded Horse of Wounded Knee, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins.

Wendell, Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Wendell Janis, Sr.; brother, Berdell Shott, Sr.; grandparents, Howard & Hazel Wounded Horse; and 5 nieces & nephews.

Pallbearers will be Alton Black Tail Deer, Sr., Leo Takes War Bonnett III, Waylon Black Crow, Jr., Beau Black Crow, Darren Hollow Horn, Sr. and Eric Hollow Horn, Sr.

Honorary Pallbearers will be O.C.H.S class of 1981, and All Friends & Relatives.

Wake Service:  One night wake service starting at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Church of God in Wounded Knee, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM

Funeral Service:  1:00 PM, Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Church of God in Wounded Knee, SD

Officiating:  The Reverend Harold Eagle Bull

Burial Services:  Messiah Episcopal Cemetery, Wounded Knee, SD
