Hoka Wicasa Yellow Cloud was born May 14, 2001, in Pine Ridge, S.D., to Duane Yellow Cloud Sr. and Alana Perez. Hoka, 18, of Porcupine, made his journey to the Spirit World on July 18, 2019 in Porcupine.
Hoka was a loving, caring and intelligent young man. He was set to graduate from Little Wound High School in the spring of 2020. He planned on entering the Army and then attending a University for college after his service. He was an outdoorsman (survivalist), very artistic and creative. He was into mixed martial arts, fashion and grew up playing baseball.
Hoka had a big heart and really loved his family. He walked in beauty. A beautiful soul that loved everyone.
Hoka is survived by his parents, Duane Yellow Cloud, Sr. and Alana Perez, both of Porcupine, SD; brothers, Waniyetu Yellow Cloud of Rapid City, SD, Duane Yellow Cloud, Jr., Maka, Peta, Tate and Luzahan Yellow Cloud, all of Porcupine, SD; sisters, Iyuskinpiwin Rowland, Ohinniyan Shortbull, both of Rapid City, SD, Meksuya Yellow Cloud of Kyle, SD, Kawita Yellow Cloud of Winnebago, NE, and Hailey Kills Back of Porcupine, SD; special friend, Katelyn Eagle Bull of Manderson, SD; aunt, Geneva Yellow Cloud of Porcupine, SD; cousins, Jaimie Quiver, Latoya Mesteth, Megan Quiver and Taylor Quiver, all of Porcupine, SD; 8 Nieces & Nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Hoka was preceded in death by his grandparents, Shirley Weston & Angelo Perez, Sr., Winnifred White Face-Janis and Harris Yellow Cloud, Jr.; uncles, Manuel Yellow Cloud and Steven Yellow Cloud; and cousin, Jerimiah Perez.
Pallbearers will be: Jaimie Quiver, Maka Yellow Cloud, Clarence “Gus” Rouillard, Jr., Jose Marrufo, Daniel Perez, Angelo “Son” Perez, Lester Tail, Carson O’Rourke, Travis New Holy, D.J. Yellow Cloud, and Benjamin “Benny” Mills.
Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD with prayer services starting at 7:00 PM.
