Brian F. Sherman Sr. “Wahlo Mani” (He Comes Growling) was born July 5, 1961, in Rapid City, S.D., to Ben Sherman Sr. and Louise White. Brian, 58, of Rapid City, made his journey to the Spirit World on January 12, 2020, in Pine Ridge. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Brian is survived by his children, Ryan Sherman and Darshann Mesteth, both of Rapid City, SD, Dana Stoldt of Pine Ridge, SD, Brian F. Sherman, Jr. of Pine Ridge, SD, Samuel Swanson of Rushville, NE; hunka sons, Noah Stoldt and Derrick Stoldt, both of Pine Ridge, SD; siblings, Amy and Edie Sherman, both of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Benny Sherman and Cameron Pinkerton; aunts & uncles, Mayda Sherman, Marilyn Pourier, Richard Sherman, Amy Wynn, Mark Sherman, Gerald Sherman, Marlon Sherman and Orville White; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Brian was preceded in death by his mother, Louise M. White; brother, Ben Sherman, Jr.; sisters, Joy Sherman and Shiloh White; aunts & uncles, Charles Sherman, Loretta Brewer, Marie White-Janis, Dennis White and Capone White; and grandparents, Mark & Alice Sherman and Martin & Josephine White.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Dowty, Richard “Dode” White Eyes, Jeremy Waters, Richard Darrin Red Owl, Larry Pourier, Larry Lance Brewer, Noah Stoldt and Lester Running Hawk.
Honorary Pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives.
Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD with evening prayers starting at 7:00 PM and military roll call to follow.
Funeral Services: 12:00 PM, Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD
