Tara Lee Blindman-Garza, 45, of Aberdeen, S.D., passed away April 25, 2020, in Aberdeen.
Tara Lee Blindman-Garza was born on March 4, 1975, at the Pine Ridge I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge to Alice Sun Bear and Delmar Blindman. Tara made her journey to the Spirit World on April 25, 2020, at the Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.
Tara is survived by her daughters, Tusweja Win “Tootsie” Blindman, Alaquoi Blindman, Luta Win Runnels, and Anastasia Garza; son, Stephen “Hoksila” Garza, Jr.; granddaughter, Jovi Blindman; grandsons, Joaquin Blindman and Atlas Bercier; mother, Alice Sun Bear; step-mothers, Billie Jean Guerrero and Josephine David; paternal unci, Rita Long Visitor Holy Dance; hunka unci, Marlys Runnels; sisters, Ginger and Dana Good Lance, and Tia Shot; brothers, Jason Blindman, Bryant Good Lance, Wakan Waci Blindman, Wakinyan Ho Waste Blindman, Berdell “Boy” Shot; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tara was preceded in death by her father, Delmar Blindman; brother, Jorma Blindman; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Florence (Crooked Eyes) Sun Bear; maternal uncle, Carl Keith Sun Bear; paternal grandfather, Moses W. Blindman; and paternal uncle, Patrick W. Blindman.
A one night wake service started at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, at the Rita Long Visitor residence in Slim Buttes.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, at the Rita Long Visitor Residence in Slim Buttes, with Mr. Ivis Long Visitor performing the traditional Lakota services.
Burial services were held at the Long Visitor Family Cemetery, Slim Buttes.
