Raquel Jonny Garnier, “Anpo Waste’ Win,” 48, of Pine Ridge, S.D., passed away May 3, 2020, in Rapid City.
Raquel Jonny Garnier, “Anpo Waste’ Win” was born on June 15, 1971, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Richard Garnier and Anita (Whitey) Garnier. Raquel made her journey to the Spirit World on May 3, 2020, at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City.
Raquel is survived by her children, Teton Quiver, Sr., Pine Ridge, Retasha Garnier and Luta Garnier both of Rapid City, Terrance Clifford, Santa Fe, N.M., Chantel Clifford, Rapid City, Creighton Stauffer, Gilmore City, Iowa, and Jhonna Clifford-Garnier, Rapid City; siblings, Jackie Garnier, Wounded Knee, Rachel Garnier, Pine Ridge, Sioux Cheyenne Garnier, Rapid City, and Mary Helen Chavez, Shiprock, N.M.; hunka sisters, Betty Watters, Pine Ridge, Billie Jo Jealous of Him, Carol Jealous of Him, and Julie Jealous of Him all of Wounded Knee; aunt, Lori Tenorio, Santo Domingo Pueblo, N.M.; 14 grandchildren; niece, Donnelle Watters, Rapid City; nephew, Brent Janis, Pine Ridge, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raquel was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Anita Garnier; grandmother, Claudia Sully-Iron Hawk; sisters, Lori Garnier and Angel Topaum; and one son in infancy.
A two night wake service started at 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, at the Lenny Clifford, Sr. Residence located ½ mile north of Pine Ridge on Hwy. 18.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, May 10, at the Lenny Clifford, Sr. residence located ½ mile north of Pine Ridge on Hwy. 18, with Mr. Mike Little Boy performing the traditional Lakota services.
Burial services were held at the Makasan Presbyterian Cemetery in Oglala.
